Is the Pregnancy Expo Worth It? My Honest Review of the 2026 NY Preggo Expo

If you have never heard of a pregnancy expo, you are not alone. Until about a month ago, I had never heard of one either. But when an ad popped up on my Instagram feed for the 2026 NY Preggo Expo, I was immediately intrigued.

Since this is my first pregnancy, I’ll take all the help I can get. So my husband and I took a leap of faith and bought tickets.

Here is my honest review of the experience — and the answer to the burning question: Is visiting a pregnancy expo actually worth it?

What Is A Pregnancy Exposition?

In case you are in the dark like I was, let’s start by defining what a pregnancy expo actually is. A preggo expo is an event designed for new and/or expecting parents. Imagine everything about baby and motherhood gathered in one location, and that will give you a pretty good idea of what to expect.

In my opinion, a preggo expo is a mix between information gathering and a shopping spree. Vendors from various companies and businesses come to explain their products and how they can help either you or your baby. From breast pumps to baby monitors to car seats, these expos really do have it all.

Many of them also host talks from experts to help educate parents. In many ways, it becomes a one-stop shop for all things baby and parenthood.

The 2026 NY Preggo Expo: My Experience

After buying a train ticket, booking a hotel, and traveling for over five hours, my husband and I finally arrived at the 2026 NY Preggo Expo. I was bursting with anticipation.

In my mind, this place was going to give me crucial parenting information, let me test out products, and provide a boatload of registry ideas. And while it did deliver on some of those expectations, there were also a few things that surprised me — and not all of them in a good way.

Below is a summary of the highs and lows of my experience.

The Highs

  • A Variety Of Vendors
    • There were so many vendors at the expo that I think it would be nearly impossible not to find at least one that resonated with you. From socks that monitor your baby's heart rate, to safe ways to introduce your baby to allergens, to babywearing products, there really was something for everyone.

One unexpected bonus was discovering products and vendors I likely would have never come across otherwise. Some were local to the New York area and unfamiliar to me, while others were products I didn’t even know existed.

  • Hands-On Experience At The Preggo Expo
    • One of the best parts of the pregnancy expo was getting to actually handle and test many of the products.

For example, we got to try out a nasal aspirator and literally suck fake mucus out of a baby doll’s nose (not glamorous, but definitely helpful to learn!). We also tested several babywearing products using weighted baby dolls so we could get a realistic sense of how they would feel.

In addition to that, we were able to test-drive strollers, try diaper creams, and explore a variety of other baby gear. As a consumer, I always feel much more confident purchasing a product after I’ve had the chance to handle and test it first.

  • Informative And Entertaining
    • Another major highlight of the event was how informative and entertaining it was.

Throughout the day, the expo hosted expert talks every half hour covering topics like traveling with a baby, sleep training, and the potential benefits of stem cells in cord blood. I loved that the event offered opportunities to learn while also exploring products.

At the same time, the atmosphere felt fun and lively. There were raffles, giveaways, games, and plenty of prizes throughout the day.

They even had Mama mocktails for expecting parents and cocktails for those who could indulge. Add in free water stations, popcorn, a food truck outside, and plenty of bathrooms, and you had a lot of happy pregnant people.

The Lows

  • It Was Overwhelming
    • Having a large number of vendors in one place is both a blessing and a curse.

Although my husband and I tried to prepare ourselves as best we could for the event, it was still extremely overwhelming at times. This was especially true at the beginning of the expo when everyone was filing in and gathering around the first booths they saw.

We quickly learned to walk past the busiest booths and circle back later once the crowds thinned out.

And just know that if you do start to feel bombarded with information or sensory overload, that is completely normal. Take the card, grab the free samples, and listen as best you can. You will have time to process everything later.

  • There Could Have Been More Organization
    • This may just be my type-A personality coming out, but I do think the event could have been a bit more organized.

Two things stood out to me in particular.

First was the speaker schedule and announcements. The pregnancy expo did a good job sharing the speaker schedule ahead of time, but once you are in the middle of the event it is very easy to lose track of time. A simple announcement 10 minutes before each talk would have helped attendees avoid missing sessions they were interested in.

Second, the speakers were placed in an area surrounded by vendor booths. While I understand the need to maximize space, this made it difficult to hear the talks clearly. Even with microphones, the surrounding conversations from vendors and attendees made it challenging to fully focus on what the speakers were saying.

Finally, I think organizing vendors by product type could improve the experience. For example, placing strollers in one aisle, breast pumps in another, and baby carriers in another would make it much easier for parents to compare products.

I understand that this could be tricky from a vendor competition standpoint, but as a consumer it would make navigating the event much simpler.

  • Certain Vendors Weren't Selling At The Preggo Expo
    • One thing that confused my very pregnant and slightly exhausted brain was that some vendors were not actually selling products at the event.

For some vendors, this made complete sense. For example, we really loved a BabyBjörn baby carrier that we got to try on. However, the representative explained that they simply did not have enough space to bring inventory to the expo. While I understood the limitation, it was still a little disappointing.

Other vendors were there mainly to introduce their products but did not have items available for purchase.

For instance, we fell in love with Zoey’s Naturals, a holistic body care company focused on clean ingredients. I wanted to buy one of everything I saw, but they only had display products and no inventory available.

As someone who arrived ready to spend money and pick up items so I wouldn’t have to add everything to my registry, this was a minor inconvenience. Still, it is something I would love to see improved at future expos.

  • No Maternity Clothes
    • This final low point is a more personal one.

I truly cannot understand why so many stores keep their maternity clothing lines exclusively online. The one time in my life when I have no idea what size I am — and when my body will continue changing — I cannot try things on in person?

I was really hoping the pregnancy expo would include at least a few vendors selling maternity clothing. Unfortunately, I was let down once again.

Yes, they did have nursing bras (which I purchased), but that is for after the baby arrives. What I was really hoping to find was cute clothing for someone at my current stage of pregnancy.

That is definitely one type of vendor I would love to see added in the future.

So, Was The Preggo Expo Worth It?

Although it was not a perfect experience, I would still argue that attending a pregnancy expo is a must-do for first-time parents. Yes, you will likely feel overwhelmed at times, and sure, some aspects could definitely be improved. But the exposure alone made the experience worthwhile.

My husband and I were able to test a variety of products, discover brands we had never heard of before, and honestly just have a really good time. It is a great way to start figuring out what you like and which products actually matter to you.

Another thing that made the event even more special was turning it into a little weekend date trip. We took the train into the city, booked a hotel, had a nice dinner after the expo, and simply enjoyed spending time together.

If you go in with the right attitude and a bit of a plan, a pregnancy expo can be a really fun and memorable experience.
